The InstallShield Installation Information Manager is a third-party freeware system utility designed to help Windows users manage, clean, and audit the setup files stored within the hidden InstallShield Installation Information directory.

When you install a program built using Revenera InstallShield, Windows automatically stores backup setup files, scripts, and uninstallation data inside a hidden folder located at C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield Installation Information (or standard Program Files). Over time, this folder accumulates massive amounts of “ghost” installer data from applications you have long uninstalled, wasting gigabytes of storage space.

What is the “InstallShield Installation Information” Directory?

Every subfolder inside this directory is named after a specific Globally Unique Identifier (GUID)—a long string of characters like {1768BEA4-3469-8EFB-6742E1C0E86F}.

The Good: These GUID folders contain files like setup.exe or setup.ini which Windows requires to repair, modify, or cleanly uninstall the associated software later.

The Bad: When you remove an application, Windows frequently leaves these GUID folders behind. Because they are hidden and cryptically named, identifying which software they belong to manually is incredibly tedious. Key Capabilities of the Information Manager

Instead of manually guessing which GUID belongs to which program, the InstallShield Installation Information Manager utility automates the organization of this data:

GUID Decoding: Automatically parses setup.ini and metadata inside each cryptically named folder to reveal the actual product name, publisher, and version.

Orphan Detection: Scans your Windows registry to determine if the associated software is still installed. If the software is gone, it flags the directory as an “orphan” or safe-to-delete junk file.

Storage Reclamation: Safely purges selected leftover installation caches with a single click, instantly freeing up disk space.

Backup Creation: Allows you to archive installer data before removal, shielding your system from accidental uninstallation errors. Troubleshooting Common Installer Errors How to Use InstallShield’s Silent Install Capabilities
